Economic Development Committee

Ryan Andrews - Chairman Division 4 Ryan is married with three children, and actively farms in Bow City. In the off-season, Ryan runs an oilfield services company. Ryan is a Councillor (Division 4) in the County of Newell, and not only feels an obligation to give back to the communities that have helped him in the past, but fully supports entrepreneurialism and helping individuals achieve their goals.
Jim Culligan - Vice Chairman Division 8 and 9 Jim moved to the Duchess area in 1981, working for a major oil and gas company for 20 years. During this time he and his family worked to build a ranch north of Duchess, and just recently expanded into Saskatchewan. In the past Jim has found time to volunteer for many local organizations; Duchess Ag’ Society, Duchess Minor Hockey, High School Basketball, and the District 8 Rec Board. As an Economic Development Committee member, Jim wants to help grow the County economically, socially, and culturally, without sacrificing small hamlets and towns in the process.
Shirley Berkeley Division 1 Shirley moved to Rolling Hills in August 2004, where she lives on an acreage with her husband, and run yearlings during the summer. Shirley has worked in the financial industry for the pass 15 years. She joined the Economic Committee in 2007 to promote growth and development of rural communities.
John Timko Division 2
Peggy Mauch Division 3 Peggy grew up in the County of Newel and now lives in the Duchess area with her family. She has worked for the ATB Financial Agent in Duchess for the past 13 years. Becoming a part of the Economic Development Committee has made her aware how the farms, villages, parks and roads have changed and progressed. It has also made her aware of the need for continuing economic development to nurture future progress.

Curtis Harbinson Division 5 Curtis was born in the Brooks area and has resided in the County for over 40 years. He has worked in the oilpatch for 23 years in Sales and Management positions, and has owned and operated his own businesses. Curits joined the Economic Development Committee in 2007 to exploit what he sees as the many opportunities for establishment and growth of both small and large companies in the County.
Tom Rose Division 6 - Tom was born and raised in Bassano and currently resides there with his two sons, aged 15 and 19. In recent years Tom dicovered a passion for municipal politics becoming Mayor of Bassano in 2010. He enjoys all of the community work that goes along with that position and believes that to "better" our district is something that all citizens of the County of Newell should strive for.

Anne Marie Philipsen Committee Tourism Representative County Of Newell County Council Anne Marie lives North of Patricia, where she and her husband, Harry, run a grain and Purebred Black Angus farm/ranch. They have 4 grown children. Anne Marie is in her third term as County Councillor and has been involved with Tourism since her initial term, as the County representative with the Newell Regional Tourism Association and the Canadian Badlands Ltd. She is on the Economic Development Committee as a liaison with Council and as a Tourism Representative.
